Barbershop is a unique style of music: 4-part harmony with the melody usually
carried by the second voice from the top, called a "Lead". Arrangements
written for barbershop quartet, octet or chorus have many dominant 7th chords
(barbershop 7ths) that help give it a unique lock, blend, ring, and
expanded sound. GBA ensembles bring that exciting sound to the world
of spiritual music.
GBA ensembles have a Christian barbershop focus, and are available for
church events, shows, fund raisers, weddings, funerals, Christmas
celebrations, etc. Most are
also available to sing the "Star Spangled Banner" or "O Canada!" or other
patriotic
songs for political rallies, meetings, holidays, sporting events, etc.,
as well as a wide range of secular songs for most other shows, parties,
etc., including singing Valentines. To be sure you are getting
the quality you seek, you should audition the ensemble or get references.
Contact the group for fees - many groups will perform free for a good cause.
